Alumni

Online Career Network

Many SMU alumni are fortunate to love their jobs. This program area allows alumni to share their insights and experiences with students and other alumni who are seeking knowledge about a particular professional field.

Individual alumni can sign up to be a part of the Career Network within their field of study. Students and alumni will be encouraged to contact career the members of this program for advice and direction on their career choices.

For graduating students, determining a career choice can be a very difficult question and many feel a lot of pressure to know what they want to do from the first day they walk onto the campus. A Career Network contact can act as a friendly voice in this time - someone who has been there, gone through the "what am I going to do with my future?" issues, and survived to tell their tale.

Serving as a Career Network contact does not require much time, but by doing so, an individual can be very helpful to the SMU community.

Some of the questions that may be asked can included:

  • Why did you choose your particular line of work?
  • What courses did you take at SMU that were relevant to your career?
  • Did you know what career you were interested in when you started at SMU?
  • What do you do in your job?
  • Was it easy to find a job in your chosen career field?
  • What are the various jobs that I can get with my degree?

Alumni from various educational and professional backgrounds are encouraged to become a part of this opportunity.

Please Note: This network is NOT a job-seeking servi ce.
