SMU Invitational ICAN Curling Bonspiel
Saturday, April 21st

The SMU Invitational Curling Bonspiel for Ottawa Alumnae of all Canadian Universities (The ICAN Curling Bonspiel) is scheduled for Saturday April 21st. It will take place at the Richmond Curling Club in Richmond, ON at the fairgrounds. Curlers will hit the ice at 10:00 for two rounds of the round robin and then those going through will have a playoff round at 2:00. Papa Lynch’s Chili will be available at 12:00. There is a cash bar service (no debit cards, only cash in Richmond), networking, and trophy and medal presentation ceremonies, which will all wrap up by 4:00. Rates are the same as last year at $80 a team.

Atlantic Universities Pub Night   

Thursday, June 7th

This annual event will take place on Thursday, June 7th, at Hooley’s on Kent St. There will be live entertainment, great food and beverage deals and lots of prizes. This is an annual opportunity for networking and making new friends, a great time every year. Last year this event had over 300 attending and raised over $1600 for the Ottawa Food Bank (financial donations will be accepted).

The 25th SMU Husky Howl Golf Tournament

Thursday, August 2nd

This year we return to the Cedarhill Golf and Country Club for our 25th Husky Howl. To make the tournament more attractive to more alumni we have opted to reduce the cost by playing golf at the club and having a BBQ after, close by. We will focus on noon for a tee off and the BBQ at 5:00. We are working on golf, with cart and a steak BBQ with beer for $80 (to be confirmed at registration). There will be prizes, the trophy presentation and lots of fun, as usual, for this best ball tournament.

Ottawa Branch Annual Dinner

Saturday, September  8th

The Fifth Annual SMU Alumni Dinner will be held at Lagos, at the  Dows Lake Pavilion on Saturday, September 8th at 7:00. Lago’s is owned by one of our alumni. This is a great night out for fabulous cuisine in an incredible setting on the lake. Enjoy a night out, bring along a friend to meet your new and old alumni friends. Rates are based on whatever you want from a selection on their excellent menu and from their wine cellar.

Annual Christmas Family Brunch

Sunday, December 16th
(date may change – depends on Santa’s schedule)

Again this year we will gather at the Rideau Carleton Raceway Slots for our annual family brunch. Families can meet with Santa and make their annual wish lists. There will be door prizes and goodies for the kids. The Brunch Buffet starts at 11:00 and is $12.99 for adults, free for kids under 5, and $9.99 for kids 6-12 years old (to be confirmed as we get closer).
