The 24th Annual Husky Howl Golf Tournament Report, August 12th, 2010
For the first time we had a tie for first place. The timeless battles between the Dennehy and Hoganson families finally came to a head with both shooting a -7 to tie the 2010 Husky Howl.
There were many suggestions of how to break the tie. Consultation with the club pro, the pro shop staff, the club owner and even our annual hostess Pam, provided various methods to settle the tie. In the end the event organizer decided to leave the tie stand. The families will share the trophy over the next year and both will have their names added to the Husky Howl symbol.
We were very pleased to have a few ladies join us this year. Mary Fitch won both the longest drive and closest to the pin awards. Michael Dennehy won the longest drive award. There was no men’s closest to the pin this year.
After a great meal, a few beverages, the awards presentations took place along with the draws for a very nice selection of gifts that were provided by our players. Then lots of chit chat about SMU memories, current issues and future plans about upcoming events and next year’s Husky Howl challenges. The sunny warm day came to an end and we went our separate ways from our gracious host, the Emerald Links Golf and Country Club.

This will be the first year for this invitational event. All Canadian University Alumni Branchs in Ottawa are invited to enter two teams of two people each for $40 a team for a day of fun during Italian Week. June 5 – 12.
